Behind the Teacher is a series that celebrates the whole teacher. e2e gets to know our favorite teachers on a deeper level to learn what makes them unique, interesting and fun!

I don’t have one, in general.  My family are the only people that call me by a nickname.  A few of my friends called me, “T”, in high school.

If you were given $200 that you had to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

Oh, wow!  Usually extra money means spending it on my girls or bills.  However, if the money were strictly for me, I would buy myself nice perfume and a new outfit!

Think about yourself at the age you are currently teaching. How would you describe yourself at that age?

When I was 7, I was very confident and had a great sense of self.  I was bright and very savvy for my age.  I had a lot of friends and was well-liked by my teachers.

Favorite self-care routine or ritual

I love taking long hot showers, taking my time on a “hair wash day” (because it does feel like it takes a day- ha ha), and/or snuggling up with either a book, Wendy Williams on YouTube, or Netflix.

Favorite Gift to give a fellow teacher

I love to give hand soaps from Bath and Body Works or nice chocolates.

What is your favorite part of your classroom?

I would have to say that my reading nook is the favorite part of my classroom.  It is very simple this year, but  my students love to huddle in that area.  It touches my heart to see them all snuggled up together.

Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning?

Lately, I have been waking up with a sense of gratitude in my heart.  Sometimes I remember a small portion of my dreams.  Most of the time, I don’t recall them (I think).

Your own parents would say you are…

My mom would say that I am very smart and sensitive.

Name 3 articles of clothing/accessories you wear the most:

Black pants (I was going to say black pants three times because I wear black pants virtually every day.)

My Clarks Mary Jane “teacher shoes”. LOL

Gold hoop earrings

Favorite beauty product:

I can’t live without lipgloss and either an eyebrow pencil or wax!  Glosses/lipsticks by NYC are my current favorites.  I also love Mac’s Ruby Woo lipstick.  It is the perfect shade of red!

Favorite Grading Pens

I love Paper Mates gel pens.  The candy apple green color is my favorite!

3 Snacks You Couldn’t Live Without

Laura bars

Apples with almond butter

Plantain chips or Veggie chips

If you could plan the perfect birthday meal for yourself, what would it be? Appetizer/main dish/dessert

A dream birthday meal would include all of the foods that I am allergic to!  However, since I can’t do that, I would love to have something amazing from the Cheesecake Factory; the meal AND the dessert!

When you go to Starbucks, you order

A Frappuccino with chocolate sauce and a lot of whipped cream.  I am not a coffee person, so if I drink it, it needs to be more like a dessert.

If you were not a teacher, you would be a

I would be a singer, a dancer, or an author!

People would be surprised to know…

How funny I am!  I am easily amused, can be slightly sarcastic and way over the top!  I laugh at my own jokes (deep belly laughing), if that gives you any indication
