Hi.

Welcome to educators 2 educators, the go-to resource for teachers. e2e isn’t just about teaching, it is about the people behind the teaching.

Nita Creekmore

Nickname:

Nita is my nickname.  My real name is E'Manita. I am named after my grandmother Emma. I have had many nicknames! Nita, E, Emma...I'm okay with any of those.

If you were given $200 that you had to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

I would probably buy some funky and fun t-shirts with some wording on it that tells about me, what I believe in, or what I love! Ha! Even though I need to buy real clothes...that is what I probably would buy. I would also buy diverse children's books. I will spend my last dime on books...seriously. They just keep stacking up.

Think about yourself at the age you are currently teaching. How would you describe yourself at that age?

Well, right now I am an Instructional Coach. But if I were to choose the last grade I taught that would be 1st grade. In 1st grade, I would describe myself as a child who was shy, drawn in, a rule follower and scared to speak up. I wasn't the child with the highest grades in the class and I wasn't the one with the lowest. I was an average student who got overlooked. That's why when I heard the phrase, "there will be no ghosts in this classroom." I loved it. We can't forget about the shy ones--the ones who are scared to speak up.

Favorite self-care routine or ritual

If I am at home and need some self-care, I love to take a hot bubble bath, put on my fuzzy pants, fuzzy socks and a t-shirt. Sometimes this ritual includes a beverage of some sort. If I am out and about, at work, etc..., deep breathing and prayer in a quiet room really does wonders for me.

Favorite Gift to give a fellow teacher

Usually, if I am giving a gift to a fellow teacher, it is a fun t-shirt or a giftcard to Starbucks!

What is your favorite part of your classroom? I have a classroom/professional development room/office. But my favorite part of my room is The Best Part of Me Wall: Teacher's Edition. The teachers shared the best part of themselves as a teacher. It was fun!

Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning?

Sometimes I do! Last night, I had a dream I signed a contract to make over 6 figures! This is when I think maybe dreams can see into the future. Only good dreams though...only the good ones. LOL.

Your own parents would say you are…

Selfless, Accomplished, Personable

Name 3 articles of clothing/accessories you wear the most:

Jeans, soft cardigans, dangling earrings

Favorite beauty product:

I would have to say it's a toss up between my BareMinerals Foundation and my MAC lipstick!

Favorite grading pens

PaperMate InkJoy! I'm an InkJoy Gal!

3 snacks you couldn’t live without…

Buttered Popcorn, Old School Dubble Bubble Gum and Chocolate Turtles

If you could plan the perfect birthday meal for yourself, what would it be? Appetizer/main dish/dessert

I love seafood. For the appetizer, I would have seasoned calamari. For the main dish, I would love two steamed lobster tails, crunchy, well-seasoned asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert, I would love warm apple pie topped with vanilla ice cream.

When you go to Starbucks, you order

I order a Grande, no water Chai. I love the chai tea there.

If you were not a teacher, you would be a…

If I wasn't in the education profession, I would probably be Children's Book Author living in a big city.

People would be surprised to know…

That I grew up in the same house, same city, all my life in Woodbridge, Virginia. I went to college at the University of South Carolina in Columbia and that was my first time living in a different city. This once shy girI was a cheerleader for 6 years! In college, I drove a 1988 light blue Chrysler New Yorker. My sorority sisters and I named him Simon because he talked to us. He would say, "You're door is ajar." He was amazing!
