Michael Creekmore aka Bearded School Counselor
Behind the Teacher is a series that celebrates the whole teacher. e2e gets to know our favorite teachers on a deeper level to learn what makes them unique, interesting and fun!
If you were given $200 that you had to spend on yourself, what would you buy?
Sneakers or cologne.
Think about yourself at the age you are currently teaching. How would you describe yourself at that age?
I'm a School Counselor for 1st & 5th grade. As a 1st grader, I remember myself being a very shy and inquisitive little boy. Any question that started with "Why," I was asking it. Lol. As a 5th grader, I was an outspoken goody two-shoes. I loved sports, school, and socializing. I started becoming very competitive around this time.
Favorite self-care routine or ritual
I really enjoy going for a walk or jog in one of my favorite local parks. An occasional massage from Treat Your Feet massage spa is also one of my favorite self care options. I must admit, buying sneakers is another form of self care... For me. Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it!
Favorite Gift to give a fellow teacher
A Chick-Fil-A or Starbucks gift card.
What is your favorite part of your classroom?
This is tough... It's actually a toss up between my basketball goal and my Smartboard.
Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning?
Sometimes I do. Most recently I dreamt my wife and I were consultants for Title I Elementary schools.
Your own parents would say you are…
My parents would say that I am determined, charismatic, fun-loving and loyal.

3 Snacks You Couldn’t Live Without

If you could plan the perfect birthday meal for yourself, what would it be? Appetizer/main dish/dessert
Bang Bang Shrimp (Bonefish) / 2 Maine Lobster tails, Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Seasoned Mashed Sweet Potatoes/ Steamed Seasoned Broccoli and a glass of Cucumber water/ a slice of Banana Fosters Cheesecake.
When you go to Starbucks, you order
True story... Whenever I go to Starbucks, I usually have my wife with me because I always feel like the brewistas are uber critical. My favorite beverage is a medium Ultra Caramel Frappacino with extra caramel. However, when I pull up to the window and order, I'm corrected ["Medium? You mean grande?] and asked how many "pumps" do I want. I would like to think of myself as very capable of ordering my own drink... until I get to Starbucks. That's why Mrs. Creekmore orders for me. Lol
If you were not a teacher, you would be a
Sneaker Designer working for Nike in their Running, Cross-Training or Lifestyle division. I'd use premium (high quality) materials.
People would be surprised to know…
I once spoke 3 different languages. As a military brat (Air Force), my family and I lived in multiple states, visited and lived in many countries. At one point, I was actually fluent in German and Spanish. Sadly, the old adage "If you don't use it, you lose it" is true. When I graduated High School I entered college and never used it again. Hopefully sometime this summer I can work on re-learning one of them.
